At the end of a landscape project, the least noticed metal items are the manhole covers and linear drains — and they are often the first to fail after handover: they rattle when a vehicle passes, corners lift and crack the paving, infill stone falls out, and wet surfaces become slip hazards. 1. Classify the Load by the Heaviest Vehicle That Might Arrive

Under GB/T 23858, covers are graded from A15 to F900. Pedestrian-only areas can start at A15, but concealed fire-access lanes, fire-truck staging areas and fire lanes inside a landscape must be C250/D400 or higher. The classic drawing error is to specify as if "no vehicle ever drives here" — then the first fire truck cracks the concealed cover.

2. Rattling and Sinking Start in the Frame, Not the Cover

Noise and settlement almost always come from the cover-to-frame fit failing. Frame diagonals should be controlled within 1-2 mm so all four corners align perfectly with the paving; batch orders should be produced from the same heat number and the same surface-texture batch to avoid shade differences and pattern misalignment. 8. Sample First — and Small Batches Can Still Be Custom

Sample to confirm colour, joint and trial installation before releasing batch production.
